The Merrill Lock No. 6 complex entered service in 1904. It was replaced by the Montgomery Lock in 1936.

Lock No. 6 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a fine example of Romanesque architecture. A popular restaurant opened there in 2000, but it has been closed since 2012. The site is now abandoned. It is occasionally used by riverboat companies for crew changes. 

Know Before You Go

The lock can be easily reached by traveling along  Pennsylvania Route 68 from Industry, PA. It is a short distance from Beaver, PA as well. It features two large parking lots and appears to be unattended. Be cautious.
