Berlin Story Bunker

When it was built in 1943, this large bunker building was meant to connect to an underground supply rail while troops waited out bombardment. But its thick concrete walls, the bunker did not see much action, as the war ended a scant few years later. But the building remained, and today it serves as a documentation of the Nazi regime (and oddly, some floors serve as a haunted house attraction).

The majority of the museum is devoted to the exhibition titled “Hitler - How Could It Happen?”. It showcases some rare materials, both written and photographic, obtained from the Washington archives. It also houses a direct replica of Hitler’s room in the Führerbunker. The lowest floor was left intact to show how the actual air raid bunker looked in 1944. The narrative of the exhibition conveys a strong anti-war message, and there is even a small mini-exhibition devoted to the war in Ukraine.
