Maison de Nostradamus

One of the most famous visionaries in history spent his final 20 years in Salon, France, the town of his second wife, the rich widow Anne Ponsard. The reputed physician and astrologer lived in a tumultuous time—a time in which the plague wreaked havoc and free thought ended in the fire of heresy. 

Nostradamus was born in 1503 in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and was one of nine children. In Salon, he wrote his prophecies about the future called Centuries. These predicted the most important historical events from 1557 to the end of days. They are written in cryptic verses of four stanzas, mixing languages such as Latin and French, and including puns, abbreviations, and anagrams.

The Maison de Nostradamus is the same house where he lived and wrote some of his most famous predictions. The house now acts as a museum that offers tours through various scenes of the life and thought of this mysterious man.
